Located to the northwest of the current population of London, in Catamarca, is the archaeological site of the Shinkal de Quimivil, at 1240 meters above sea level, and is, according to archaeologist Raffino, one of the four best Inca installations in Argentina.
The constructions that can be seen there were built, however, by the Quechuas between 1471 and 1536 on land that had already been a centre of importance for the pre-existing cultures (Saujil, Ciénaga, Aguada, etc.).
At the same time, it was a key point in the resistance of the native cultures against the Spanish invaders. It was also an important epicenter of the diaguitas-Calchaquí uprisings (Juan Calchaquí, 1561 - Cacique Chelemín, 1632).
Nowadays it is a place of celebration of the Inti Raymi (New Year of the original people) every June 21, therefore it is not only considered an archaeological ruin, but also a living ceremonial center. The itinerary begins crossing the valley of Capayán, passes through the Cébila Gorge, Aimogasta until reaching London, then the ruins of El Shincal and finally Bethlehem where the tourist can appreciate the work of outstanding local artisans.
